Installing Agent-See
For help and advice try the Agent-See forums:
http://www.brightbanana.co.uk/forums/index.php

*******Requirements:*******

Webserver - Apache is a good choice
PHP - Preferably ver >4.11
MySQL
PHP My Admin is handy but not essential.

!!!NEW IN VERSION 950!!!!!

Please CHMOD the images/homes and images/agents dirs to be writable by the server as this is where images are now stored. Also if when uploading images you get errors try turning off GD in settings.php OR install GD on your server (or get your host to do so).
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

******TO WIN OR NOT TO WIN -- UPDATED *************

For this release of agent-see we haved tested on the following platforms

Red Hat 8.2
Fedora Core 1
FreeBSD
Windows 2003 Server (yep you read that right :) )

There some things that you'll need to do under windows, file permissions will need jigging around a little but everything should work.

****************************

*******DATABASE*******
First of unzip the package you downloaded (but you've already done that if you are reading this! So we'll skip that step:)

Now you need to create you database:
Most shared hosting comes with a nice little MySQL front end, (ours does at any rate, if not look here http://www.brightbanana.co.uk/products/hosting.php3) which you can use to create your DB. If so create a new DB called agentsee

If not just use the CREATE DATABASE command in the MySQL CLI.

Next we need to create the tables and initial data that will populate them, if you are using phpmyadmin just browse to the agent-see.sql file and hit go - you should get a new page telling you that the following tables have been created.

####Database agentsee####
####Your SQL-query has been executed successfully####

If not, time to cry:)
****************************

*******FILES*******
Now you need to modify the includes/common.php file to reflect the settings for your database:

//mysql database setup
$user = "USERNAME";
$password = "PASSWORD";
$db = "DATABASE";
$server = "localhost";

********************There a 4 levels of access in Agent-see:************************

Users > these are the people that browse the site

Agents > Agents can add properties and change their information only

Admins > These people have "Root" as it were, changing the way the site looks as well as adding/removing and modifying the Agents.

Newsletter Manager > This can be a separate person that has the ability to send the newsletter (go to /admin/ and enter the newsletter pass in the box - does not require admin privileges)

****FORMAIL****

please change this line in formmail.php

// referers.. domains/ips that you will allow forms to
// reside on.
$referers = array ('255.255.255.255','www.yourwebsite.com');

to reflect your server details (IP and domain)

or you will get a; "cannot send email" msg
****************************

*****Logging IN*******

LOG IN AS AGENT
The default user/pass is
USER - agent
PASS - test

LOG IN AS NEWSLETTER MANAGER (GO TO http://www.yoursite/agentseedir/admin/ and put the password in the box)

PLEASE! PLEASE! ENSURE YOU CHANGE THESE BEFORE USING ON A MACHINE CONNECTED TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD!
