Galleristic 1.0 :: Readme

Galleristic is a linkware script. That means that you may use and edit it as much as you like, as long as the message at the bottom of each page stays intact. Other than that, happy uploading!

Requirements
PHP (version 4 or higher)
mySQL
Imagemagick (optional, for thumbnails creating)
A link back to http://scripts.aozora.nu

GD should also be able to use for creating thumbnails - though it has not been tested. Using Imagemagick is however recommended.

Installation Instructions
1) Unzip the zip to a directory on your computer.
2) Open config.php in a text editor, and change the host, database name, username and password.
3) Upload everything to your server.
4) Chmod the images directory and the thumbnails directory to 777
5) Go to http://yourdomain.com/directory/install.php. Fill in the required information, and click install!
6) Go to http://yourdomain.com/directory/admin.php and change the options.
7) You're done! You may now upload pictures and do whatever you want to. The pictures can be viewed by going to http://yourdomain.com/directory/

Troubleshooting
When I upload pictures, all the thumbnails are broken!
Are you sure Imagemagick is installed on your server? If not, you must disable the creating of thumbnails under Options, and upload thumbnails together with the images. If yes, make sure the thumbnails directory has been chmodded to 777.

I uploaded a flash animation, but for some reason it wont load!
Try to first readd it, and then delete the first version that was broken. It should work now.

Templates
The templates are located in the "templates" folder, and they should be very simple to edit as they are mainly just HTML and CSS! However, here and there there is tags that starts with <? and ends with ?>. These are PHP tags, and should what's inside of them should not be touched, or you'll probably just end up with an error. But what you can do is of course to move them around so that your layout looks exactly the way you want it to! Here's a list of what all the tags does, and what you can use them for.

view.php functions

<?=get_picture(title)?> - This function gets info about the picture, like it's title.

<?the_date()?> - Which date the picture was submitted on.

<?comments()?> - Shows the comments for this picture and a comments form.

<?the_category()?> - Shows which category the picture is posted in.

<?the_thumbnail()?> - Displays the thumbnail of the picture

<?title_link()?> - Displays the title of the picture with a link to fullview

<?comments()?> - Displays the comments and the comments form.

<?comments_link()?> - Link to comments that shows up only when viewing a category.

Everything else

<?=get_setting(something)?> - This function gets information from the settings database, like which way you want to sort your pictures or which background color your thumbnails should have.

<?random_picture()?> - Displays the thumbnail of a random picture

<?newest_picture()?> - Displays the thumbnail of the most recent picture

<?=stats(pics)?> - Number of pictures in the database

<?=stats(comments)?> - Number of comments in the database

<?=stats(categories)?> - Number of categories

<?=stats(updated)?> - When the last picture was added

<?=stats(hits)?> - Number of hits totally

<?=stats(hitsperpic)?> - Average number of hits per picture

<?=stats(commentsperpic)?> - Average number of comments per picture

<?popup_script()?> - Javascript to make the picture popups.

<?categories_frontpage()?> - Displays all the categories with thumbnails

<?alltitles()?> - A list with the titles of all the submitted pictures.

<?allpics()?> - A list with all the pictures.
