Brass Monkey is a small set of PHP scripts to maintain an online journal.
What more can I say?

Version 0.0.3 was mostly a bugfix version, but it also included a crypted
password generator by Jani Tammi <jasata@tuug.fi>.

Version 0.0.4 adds the ability to disable comment posting, the ability to
configure the database and table names used for entry and comment storage,
and date format configurability. All functions were also put into appropriate
classes. The switch blocks in index.phtml and comments.phtml were split into
separate files, making it somewhat easier to change the page design without
stomping on the code.

I'll write a better README soon. No, really!

Brass Monkey requires the following:
  * PHP (Tested with 3.0.12 in Apache 1.3.9, may work with 4.0 betas)
  * MySQL (Tested with 3.22.25-log)

Brass Monkey is released under the terms of the Artistic License.

I've included some example page templates. You will probably want to change
them, because they will be butt-ugly to most people.

Following are MySQL table definitions for the entry and comment tables. They
need not be called "entry" and "comments"; you can configure what they are
called in config.php3.

#--8< SNIP'N'SAVE >8--
# phpMyAdmin MySQL-Dump
#
# Host: localhost Database : journal
# --------------------------------------------------------

#
# Table structure for table 'entry'
#

CREATE TABLE entry (
   eid tinyint(4) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
   datetime tinytext NOT NULL,
   body longtext NOT NULL
);

# You'll probably want to change this
INSERT INTO entry (eid,datetime,body) VALUES (1,'2000.01.01 00.00','Hi!  If you are seeing this, you have a working installation of Brass Monkey.  Congratulations.');

# phpMyAdmin MySQL-Dump
#
# Host: localhost Database : journal
# --------------------------------------------------------

#
# Table structure for table 'comments'
#

CREATE TABLE comments (
   peid tinyint(4) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
   authorname tinytext NOT NULL,
   authoremail tinytext NOT NULL,
   timestamp bigint(20) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
   body longtext NOT NULL,
   cid tinyint(4) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
   postedfrom tinytext NOT NULL
);
